Charleston, South Carolina

I’m starting to see a tread in how I classify cities as ‘my favorite.’ They typically start with a strong food scene, cool people, deep history and easy transportation whether on foot, bicycle or metro. Charleston has all that topped with some major Southern Charm.

I stopped in Charleston on my way home to Denver, Colorado. What was supposed to be an over night stay ended up being a week long city tour. I bicycled all over the city, took a long run over the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, and once again ate and drank my way around town. There is a fierce food scene in Charleston and with chefs like Sean Brock at the helm there is a serious Cuisine of the Southern United States revival happening : )
