How I was inspired to create Culinary Tours
two of us we could put together a kick ass culinary tour. The tour was postponed but the seed was planted.
Realizing it takes certain connections and cultivated relationships, I wondered why we couldn’t create an experience like I had in Puglia happen anywhere. Why not even in our own city?
So much planning goes in to putting a great trip together. Rarely do we have the time or patience or resources to comb through all the information out there and pluck out the true gems of a city. The best way to get to know a city is through the eyes of a local and that’s where Bacon Productions can help. We have fostered and nurtured relationships with people from all over the world who are waiting to show you a very special time.
In 2013, I had the unique opportunity of traveling to Naples, Italy for a five week culinary residency. While there, I worked directly with several women chefs who shared recipes and stories plucked right from their own experiences. Even with over 20 years in the restaurant business, I never had an experience that mean so much to me than working side-by-side with these women. Through the residency, I was introduced to an another amazing woman named Ylenia Sambati who lived in the Puglia region (the heel of Italy). She invited me for the weekend to show me the best of what Puglia had to offer and at that point there was no turning back.
